Hello, my name is Barry Hogarth.

I own and run IRISH ST. TATTOO studio in Downpatrick, Northern Ireland.

Originally from Liverpool I started tattooing in London in 1994 under the guidance of Mr Sebastian, who entrusted me with my first tattoo machines (back then the public could not just buy tattoo equipment). After 5 years working at different studios in and around London, I opened my own shop The Happy Sailor, in Shoreditch, London. I successfully established and ran this for over 10 years.

During this time I worked hard and built up my reputation to be held in high regard amongst the London tattoo community. It was there that I tattooed many of London’s celebrities and artists and appeared in the film Green Street (tattooing, of course!).

In the 1990’s JEAN PAUL GAULTIER had a collection of tattoo inspired clothing and my back tattoo featured on many of his pieces. My work has featured on the cover of world-renowned artist DAMIEN HIRST’S book MurderMe. I have both assisted and tattooed the graffiti art legend BANKSY as well as performance artists Lee Wagstaff and Franko B, amongst others.

My work has been published in many books and magazines, the most recent is the 2012 publication FOREVER, THE NEW TATTOO which has one of my pieces from 1999 featured.
